SPA AND BATHROOMS

The island of Taiwan has a population of 23 million, turning this place in one of the most densely settled regions in the world. The hotel that we are going to talk about is located in its capital, Taipei in the north of the island, a place in which visitors want to relax and avoid all the noise of the city.

This has used as an inspiration the tradition and culture of Taiwan, combined with more contemporary modern touches. This also has a restaurant, but the most important service that offers is the big spa that allows users to relax. A place divided into two wellness oases and spreads over two floors covering more than 3,500 square metres. This has not only a sauna, steam showers, vitality pool, ice fountain and 12 treatment rooms but also two VIP double suites and four couples’ suites.

Certainly a unique space in which Villeroy & Boch participates with the high-quality sanitary facilities for the spa, using the Architecture collection. This is characterised by a deliberately minimalist design, allowing a wide range of applications and leaving room for individual style. The toilets repels dirt thanks to CeramicPlus, which ensures a perfect hygiene. Moreover, these have a silent closure of the toilet seat and a high cleaning efficiency with a water use of 3 or 4,5 litres.

PRODUCERS - TECHNOLOGY

Milwaukee pioneers the next industry-changing technology with the introduction of ONE-KEY™, the first digital platform for jobsite tools. By integrating industry-leading tool electronics with a custom-built cloud based program, ONE-KEY™ provides a new level of control and access to information that revolutionises the way work gets done. This fundamentally changes the way users interact with their tools, and help solve user problems and frustrations the industry has never before been able to add.

ONE KEY APP

Since the launch of ONE-KEY™ app in February 2016, we have seen a series of game-changing solutions – Tool Control, Inventory Management and Tool Reporting – aimed at unlocking the digital jobsite. And now Milwaukee® is to introduce an updated free-to-download app with “a true industry first” Integared Tool Tracking function.

one-key-screens
Integrated Tool Tracking provides full visibility to how and where ONE KEY™ compatible tools are being used across your network of jobs and users. The ONE-KEY™ app will automatically keep records of the last time it was within 30 m of your tool, allowing you to pinpoint missing tools quicker and increase accountability of your team. As the first to integrate this technology standard in the tool, ONE-KEY™ Tool Tracking provides a free, easy to use web & mobile platform to keep a virtual eye on your things when you can’t.

So how does this work?

• The ONE-KEY™ app will track all compatible tools within 30 m range of your phone. By building the functionality into the tool, not the battery, all tools are trackable even if the battery is not charged or connected.

• The ONE-KEY™ app will automatically store the last time it was within range of your tool. If you leave a tool behind you can check your app to easily pinpoint the last location and time you were within 30 m of that missing tool.

• If you have lost a tool, you can expand your search with the help of anybody with the ONE-KEY™ app. By opting in, when any phone with the ONE-KEY™ app comes in within 30 m of your tool, you will receive a notification with an updated location via phone or email.

onekey

Tool Tracking leverages the infrastructure of your smart device, forgoing costly tracking technology to deliver real-time updates of tool locations anywhere the ONE-KEY™ app is found.

Available for initial download in April 2016, ONE-KEY™ app update will be accessible by computer from our website at www.milwaukeetool.eu/ONE-KEY, or by a mobile app interface on compatible Android and iOS smartphones. ARCHITECTURE - PROJECT

Thyssenkrupp has begun the installation of the peculiar front of glass PTFE, politetrafluoroetileno, in his tower of tests that one finds in Rottweil, Germany, destined to test the innovations worldwide of his elevators. It is foreseen that the project is the highest of the world of this class.

For the installation of this membrane, it is needed of specialized technical personnel to realize the assembly to a height 246 meters. An installation of height that he carries that the whole equipment faces singular challenges. By means of two mobile platforms, the specialists measure the exterior and join the space-bars and pipes to mount the membrane. Of separated form, the front will be assembled in three parts and will establish itself of it arrives down. Due to the gradual gradation of the membrane, the tower will seem to be almost opaque in the part of below and will be estimated of almost transparent form in the part of above, where the fabric of mesh is thicker.

17000 METERS

The membrane, of 17.000 square meters, is done of glass PTFE (politetrafluoroetileno), a complex woven of fiber of glass covered with polymer that grants long duration, allows the auto-cleaned one and contributes to the tower his distinctive aspect. In addition, also it protects her from the intense solar radiation and reduces the movement of the building, attacking the force of the wind. The fabric takes place in strips of three meters that later will knit to bigger sections of membrane, being the first time that applies this material to itself hereby.

For the equipment of planning one has possessed 29 members of Taiyo Europa, person in charge of the manufacture and assembly of the membrane. According to Hubert Reiter, the executive director of Taiyo Europe: » The phase of planning, as well as the set they mean new challenges for us, since the requirements and specifications are totally only. We from Taiyo Europa are very proud to take part in a project as special as this one «.

TEST IN DECEMBER 2016

There is programmed that the operations of test in the tower begin in December, 2016 and that in May, 2017, opens the tower the visitors. » For thyssenkrupp Elevator, the tower of tests in Rottweil will play a key paper in the implementation of our global strategy of innovation, which is crucial for the success of the company «, Andreas Schierenbeck says, CEO of thyssenkrupp Elevator. » Together with our plant of elevators in Neuhaussen, and as part of the world network of research and development, the tower supposes an important center of innovation for the technology of elevators in Germany. Here, they will be explored, will develop and prove innovative solutions for the mobility of the future, in order which the cities are the best place to live «, Schierenbeck comments.

CONSTRUCTION

Thyssenkrupp began the construction of the tower of Rottweil’s tests in 2014 together with the general Züblin contractor. Between the technologies that will be tested there is the elevator MULTI, with three of twelve axes of the tower saved for this new system. Thanks to the technology of magnetic levitation of the Transrapid, MULTI offers a series of advantages: the free design of cables allows to several cabins to operate in an alone axis, increasing the passengers’ capacity up to in 50 per cent and, at the same time, reducing the fingerprint of the elevator in the building to the half. In addition, the elevators will be able to move without constraint, so much horizontally as vertically, making new applications and architectural possibilities possible without precedents.

Corporate complexity

Samo Group has been chosen by SDA Bocconi School of Management and SAP Italia to take part in a research project aimed at defining the value of information systems as they relate to corporate complexity. The Samo corporate case study is featured in the publication of “Complessità aziendale e valore dei sistemi informativi” [Corporate complexity and the value of information systems], which contains the findings of the research and was presented on Wednesday 29 January at the Bocconi School of Management (Milan), where the Group was on hand to offer its own reflections.

The main aim of the research, conducted throughout 2013 by the authoritative School of Management in collaboration with SAP Italia, was to analyse innovative approaches able to steer decisions regarding investments in information systems, as compared to the traditional return-on-investment approach so common among managers and entrepreneurs. It was with this in mind that Samo had been contacted on 23 May by SDA Bocconi to offer their particular experience.

Study Amatam

This new place, existing but now refurbished, is an opportunity to create a retreat for young people, where they could set free all their creativity. In order to achieve this, it will be essential to use color to stimulate the spatial and visual perception, so the color psychology has become one of the fundamental assumptions.

An amazing project

Walls sinuously move and bend through this loft apartment interior housed in a former butter factory, in West Melbourne.

A sculptural stair sits at the converging point in the space, twisting, and soaring up towards a recreational roof terrace which overlooks the city of Melbourne.

Apartment_Adrian Amore_09

A monochrome palate of white on white with charcoal and black, plays with the abundant natural light which is drawn in from the large north facing windows and ceiling void.

An essentially open ground floor plan is defined by bending, wrapping walls which contain a bathroom, laundry and storage spaces. Sliding doors further create the opportunity for expanding or containing, depending on how the ground floor is used, whether it be as a studio, bedroom or for entertaining.

KOOK design Karim Rashid

“I take a minimalist approach in my kitchens, preferring to create a clean striking surface that is punctuated by splashes of strong color. For the Kook kitchen I wanted to create an innovative design to turn even the most challenging culinary endeavors into pure aesthetic pleasure”. The cabinets open to give expansive views of all that is to offer and then shut when the meal is done making a minimal and uncluttered kitchen. Rolling shutters reveal LED edged shelves and built-in hood above the hob. Utilizing the angled cabinet, larger items can be stored at the top while smaller, more readily used items on the bottom making cooking a breeze. The pressure opened bottom cabinets are accented with colored LED strips and angled to allow an easy approach to the work surface. Kook also features a sink that can be hidden using a matching cutting board to make a continuous surface. The use of solid Corian on frameless doors gives life to a combination of technicality, solidity and aesthetic minimalism.

A new rage

The kitchen is the space where time management, customized solutions and accessories become indispensable.

In line with the strong commitment to environmental sustainability, GRAFF is among some of the first companies in the world to have publicly expressed willingness to actually eliminate its impact on the environment in the near future.

Studio Arapiles Arquitectos Asociados 15, S.L.P.

The most interesting architectural feature of the building is the aesthetic contrast created by the three types of façade that can be seen: a large white volume of GRC photocatalytic panels, a ventilated Dekton® façade in the colour Sirocco, and a curtain wall protected by ceramic slats.
Another distinguishing feature is the aesthetic continuity of the design, an effect achieved thanks to the exterior flooring, done in Dekton®, colour Danae, that has been used in a discreet and elegant way up to – and into – the building itself, and covers all external areas that the public has access to.

Colour Sirocco
Dekton®, in the colour Sirocco, was used for the façade of the new Cajamar headquarters as it is a uniform colour, has very little veining and, ultimately, because it is a colour that does not aspire to “emulate” any other type of stone or any other existing material. Dekton®, applied to the façade, has acquired its own identity, and the colour Sirocco has contributed enormously to this. The grey limestone of Sirocco is pure elegance and its texture affords it a completely natural look and a sobriety beyond compare.

080

The advantages
Dekton® allows a uniform design to be created, making all the walls of the building appear clad in a single covering. Qualities such as its high resistance to ultraviolet rays, its resistance to frost and thawing, its colour stability and high stain resistance are essential properties for its use for exterior façades with these characteristics.
The fact that it is easy to assemble – thanks to the precision of the material that incorporates a structure for its support – is also important. There is a very good union between the CAT1 Wandegar system, used for the support, and the Dekton® slabs.

Colour Danae
It was necessary to use a colour with a Solar Reflectance Index of SRI> 78, and the colour therefore had to be very light in order to avoid a “heat island” effect. Inspired by Roman travertine, Dekton®, in the colour Danae, with its creamy colour and matte finish suggesting a classic warmth, was perfectly suited to the building’s technical requirements.
The idea of using Dekton® in the colour Danae for the inside of the building as well, lent itself to the decision of differentiating areas with higher traffic from those with less traffic. Visually, it can be seen how the material enters the building via the flooring, from the exterior to the indoor lobbies – including the stairwells –, affording a combination of warmth and uniformity of design.

108

The large size of the Dekton® slabs creates an image of high quality and brightness in the areas paved with this material. From a functional point of view of its properties, its hardness and the fact that it is hard-wearing in areas of continuous foot traffic, make it a perfect product for spaces that are used intensively. In addition, its easy daily maintenance is a huge plus to highlight for buildings with high levels of activity.

Indoor office stairwells
Specifically because the inner stairwells of the building do not receive much daylight. The light, creamy colour of Dekton® Danae avoids these spaces being engulfed in darkness, affording good visibility from step to step, and staircase to staircase. Stairs form part of the continuation of the flooring of the building and receive a high number of footsteps every day. Dekton® is an ideal surface for high traffic areas and is hard-wearing thanks to its high resistance to abrasion, its hardness and strength. Another great advantage that Dekton® offers – and one has been most valued for this project – is the fact that the steps can be manufactured in one piece without having to have joints between them.

030

Colour Kadaum
Dekton® is ideal for worktops, flooring and any cladding for the bathroom owing to its excellent water-resistance qualities. Thanks to its high resistance to hydrolysis, the material does not alter, either in composition or aesthetics if it is in contact with liquid for extended periods of time.

This ensures the durability of the material, as well as easy daily maintenance and has made it the perfect choice for use in bathrooms on the ground floor of the building.
Aesthetically, the Kadum tone and its industrial appearance give the space a unique colour, it is both timeless and sophisticate and fills the interior with beauty and perfection.

Awards & certifications
The new Cajamar headquarters has the LEED GOLD sustainable buildings certification, issued by the US Green Building Council. This certification provides verification by a specialised and independent agency that the building meets the highest standards of efficiency for sustainable building, including aspects related to energy efficiency, use of alternative energy, improving indoor environmental quality, efficiency of water use, sustainable development gaps and selection of the materials used. Currently there are 49 buildings with LEED GOLD certification in Spain and out of them only one in Andalusia.
Furthermore, the building has obtained the “A” energy rating awarded by the Andalusian Energy Agency, due to the reduction in energy demand from the heat, roofs and air conditioning and ventilation systems. Finally, according to the parameters of the Guide to Sustainability of the technological park, these Cajamar facilities meet 98 out of the 100 sustainability parameters, and is rated as “excellent”.

A material with certified quality:

– ETE / ETA: European Technical Assesment: Dekton® has obtained an ETA 14/0413 (European Technical Assessment) and CE marking as exterior cladding for ventilated façades.Owing to these properties, the Dekton® surface can be perfectly incorporated onto façades by means of different types of concealed stainless steel or aluminium fixings.

– Greenguard: Dekton® has been analysed by the Greenguard programme, certifying that it does not emit any VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds). Dekton® has achieved the Gold Greeguard and Greenguard certification.

NSF: Dekton® been tested and evaluated by NSF under NSF/ANSI 51 standard, which is a toxicological evaluation of all product ingredients, conducting proficiency testing and successfully passing impromptu audits annually in all manufacturing sites.

– ISO 14001: This recognition certifies quality and environmental management system and consolidates Cosentino.

BATH INTERIORS - TRENDS

2015 is characterized b y the revolution in shower design: thanks to advanced technology, the Samo bathroom features continuous surfaces, offering the maximum in comfort and modern design. Not only new homes, but also restructuring projects and modernizations can have the shower flush with the floor in an elegant new trend of reduced outlines. The shower flush with the floor creates continuity at the level of design and total usability of the space.
Installing a shower free of architectural barriers improves the accessibility of the bathroom as a whole. Freedom, safety and practicality are the distinctive elements of this new trend in the world of bath interiors. In line with this trend, Samo presented, among its new products for 2015, the new Stone and Stonefit shower plates to satisfy even more effectively the demands of a continuously changing market. The shower flush with the floor produced by Samo is an exclusive, versatile project, thanks to the wide range of sizes and vast selectio n of materials and shapes and, for this reason, is very attractive to the end consumer.

Stonefit
Stonefit shower plates feature a lightened, simplified design to meet project needs in the best possible way. Carefully studied in every detail, the series also offers a wide range of custom designs thanks to the possibility of supplying sizes by the centimeter and the creation of two new colors “arctic” and “dove gray”, as a sign of continuous style change. The new “embossed effect” texture is highly effective, offering a delicate sensorial experience combined with the careful study of safety, thanks to its non-slip effect.

Stone
Stone was developed to meet qualitatively higher demands, supplying the same product as Stonefit in “mineral marble” with pre-set dimensions to make the product immediately available, but with the same unique features. A new texture of the ribbing, based on the naturalistic inspiration that gives shower plates a unique sensorial sensation without losing quality thanks to the non-slip effect.

Consumers opinions

«When talented designers work on an everyday product like a shower tray the result is an outstanding product. This product is perfectly realized, the material is soft, pleasant, they made a very good job.»

«The era of big shower trays is definitely over when we see that companies like this one can succeed in creating such beautiful and convenient to use products.»

«Every detail matters in interior design. It is useless to have the most beautiful tiles, the most beautiful wallpaper, the best furniture if your whole decor is not consistent. ARCHITECTURE AWARDS

This time we inform you that Spain and Portugal are the countries with the highest number of participants in the BigMat International Architecture Award 2015. And it is that 46% of the projects come from the Iberian Peninsula.

In this first round we have been selected the 20 best projects from each country (of about eight projects received), of which three will be chosen later. Of this trio, he leaves a national winner from each of the participating countries, who will compete in the final stage of selection for the International Architecture Award 2015. The award ceremony will take place on November 20 in Berlin (Germany) during the celebration Annual Meeting of the Group of BigMat International.

Moreover, as in the previous edition, the president of the jury is Jesus Aparicio (Professor of Architectural Design at the ETSAM). It should be noted that the jury of the International Architecture Prize BigMat is formed by renowned professionals, each of the competing countries (Olivier Bastin, Martin Rajniš, Henri Ciriani, Francesco Dal Co, Manuel Aires and Antonio Ortiz). As far as Spain and Portugal are concerned, involved architects of the caliber of Souto Moura and Alberto Campo Baeza.

The typological diversity has been one of the main features of the buildings in competition with all types of construction: houses, schools, hospitals, museums, concert halls, sports centers, offices, etc.
