ARCHITECURE

This project comprises a penthouse reform of 130 sqm that is located in Torre de Madrid, one of the most important skyscraper of the capital of Spain.

First of all, it is important to talk about the access to the house, that is given through a hall forked in two branches. The first one is a public area with the living room and kitchen and takes it as an open concept. The second, is connected to the private area of the penthouse with one master bedroom and a bathroom in suite, and another bedroom with a bathroom in the corridor.

TMAD0056

About the public area, is important to talk about the living room, designed as a polyvalent space appropriate  for the modus vivendi of young owners. A place that is completed by a balcony that offers excellent views of the city.

TMAD0120 copia

Moreover, is important to say that white is the protagonist of this project, that besides, is located at 142 metres high, characteristic that provides enormous luminosity to the place.

On the other hand, now is the moment to talk about de furniture. About this, it should be noted that almost all has been designed by A-cero in exclusively for this apartment and in white lacquered wood. For example the sofa, designed by A-cero and upholstered by «Alonso Mercader». The Kitchen is also by the architecture studio for «Baco» and a sliding door can hide it. Another important detail of the house are the lamps «Vivia Skan», that hang from the ceiling over the dinner table. In this space the chairs are «Rest» designed by A-cero for «Vondom».

Finally, it is important to highlight that all the space is equipped with a home automation system to control all aspects of lighting and security.

ARCHITECTURE AND INNOVATION

Once again, LG Hausys shows one of its projects made with the acrilic stone Hi-Macs. In this case it is a house located in Termen (Switzerland) that has excepcional views to the Pennine Alps, thanks to the large glass walls of the first floor. A house that counts with a simple and box-shaped structure of wood, built on a base of concrete and which stands out of the hillside. In this way, this combines perfectly tradition and modernity thanks to the wood and high technology materials such as Hi-Macs acrylic stone.

HI-MACS_Casa Berchtold_03

About the different rooms of the house, it should be noted on the first place the kitchen, composed of a kitchen island with white panels made in Hi-Macs Alpine White and a backlighted glass. A design that is complemented with simple furniture also made with Hi-Macs, in this case in the tonality Babylon Beige, and that converts this room in a essential part of the house. About this, it shoud be noted too that offers to those that are cooking an exceptional panoramic view of the mountains.

HI-MACS_Casa Berchtold_04

Other rooms in which this acrylic stone has been included are the bathrooms, where in one of them for the walls it has been used Hi-Macs Babylon Beige, which is mixed in a natural way with the floor of the shower. But this material has also been used in the bathroom of the second floor, specifically for the shower and the bathtub and in the tonality Alpine White.

In this way, as the owner of the house Werner Bertchold highlights «Hi-Macs is warm, soft and pleasant to touch». «The material is really easy to clean and care and, also has a duration of decades».

ARCHITECTURE

Once again, the American architect Daniel Libeskind has collaborated with de Spanish multinational firm Cosentino in this case in the installation «Musical Labyrinth». A project presented at the Cosentino City showroom in Manhattan.

At this event, Libeskind has explained all the details of the project to the different media that were there. «Musical Labyrinth» is an installation sited in Frankfurt that every visitor to the German city will be able to see in Frankfurt’s Opera Square. This 289m2 intallation, that according to its creator is a work of public art, simulates a deep black landscape and is engraved in white with the original concept sketch by Libeskind created for the “One Day in Life”. But all of this it’s possible thanks to Cosentino’s ultra-compact surface Dekton®, that can be customized using techniques such as etching.

Daniel-Libeskind_sketch_Musical-Labyrinth_Dekton®

Moreover, «Musical Labyrinth» is made of 80 personalized Dekton slaps in black “Sirius”, with a mesure of 3.2m x 1.4m. All of these slaps serve as a canvas for Libeskind’s design to be applied using sunken relief in white. The lines of the drawing illustrate an imaginary labyrinth within the city, indicating the points of the addresses of the 18 concerts and performances of “One Day in Life”.

Libeskind_One-Day-in-Life-presentation-with-Cosentino_3

As we have explained before, this is not the first collaboration with Daniel Libeskind. And that is that, this is the fourth time that Cosentino and the studio of this architect work together. Prior projects include: “Beyond the Wall”, an installation that was first presented in Silestone natural quartz during Milan Design Week and is now permanently installed featuring Dekton at Cosentino’s global headquarters in Almeria, Spain; and the sculpture “Sonnets in Babylon”, created for the Venice Architecture Biennale.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Bosch explains  the new European Directive about Energy Efficiency, through five basic keys. This new Directive is about energy audits, accreditation systems for suppliers of energy services and the promotion of energy efficiency in the processes of production and use. The keys are the following:

1. This new normative obliges to companies that are not SMEs  to make Energy Audits, in order that they know their situation about the use of energy,  to have acreditation systems to energy service providers and energy auditors, and to promote the enery efficiency in the production processes and use.

2. The objective of this is to boost the saving and energy efficiency, the optimization of the energy demand of the installation on the part of the equipment, as well as to have competent, reliable and accredited professionals.

Logo_Bosch.svg

3.  This new Directive affects to big companies with at least 250 employees or with a business volume of more than 50 millions, and to energy service providers that with this new Directive must meet certain requirements for the exercise of their professional activity. Furthermore, this also affects to enery auditors, that must have an accredited degree, and in general to users and citizens.

4. Now it is important to know that if this rules are not breach, companies will be punished with fines between 300 to 60.000 euros and these can increase to 100.000 euros in some cases.

5. Finally, this new normative entered into force the 12th of February.

ARCHITECTURE PROJECT

With its ongoing growth and passion for innovation, Renson recently reached the finals of the ‘Enterprise of the Year’ competition in Belgium. Although its activities are strongly international, the challenge for the Belgian company is now to grow into a world leader in the area of ventilation, sun protection and terrace coverings.  And that would now appear to be quite well within reach.

TOWER PROJECT IN SHANGAI

Renson has been active in the Asian market since 2013. It is now represented in such countries as China, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Japan. “Renson had previously achieved an amazing feat by installing a Lagune terrace covering on the 58th floor of the Ritz Carlton hotel in Shanghai. But the ‘Black Forest’ project in Shanghai is the first project of this scale that we landed in Asia”, relates Rick Heintjes, Renson Sales Manager for Asia. «It involves some 3000 Fixscreens in high-end residential dwellings, distributed among 3 apartment towers. The first of these was equipped with 985 Fixscreens. The contract for a second and third tower building was concluded at the end of September  2015 (with commissioning planned for the end of May 2016) and the orders are on their way. The total deal is for more than € 1.8 million, the largest agreement Renson has concluded to date in the Asian market.»

Paul Renson: “Renson’s ambition is to grow from a Belgian company into a global player in the area of ventilation, sun protection and terrace coverings. Projects like this in Shanghai give us additional motivation for following the path we’ve chosen.»

SPA AND BATHROOMS

The island of Taiwan has a population of 23 million, turning this place in one of the most densely settled regions in the world. The hotel that we are going to talk about is located in its capital, Taipei in the north of the island, a place in which visitors want to relax and avoid all the noise of the city.

DE: Referenz, Villeroy & Boch, Taiwan, Taipeh, Taipei, Spa, Wellness, WC Omnia Architectura EN: Reference, Villeroy & Boch, Taiwan, Taipeh, Taipei, Spa, Wellness, WC Omnia Architectura FR: Référence, Villeroy & Boch, Taiwan, Taipeh, Taipei, Spa, Wellness, WC Omnia Architectura

This has used as an inspiration the tradition and culture of Taiwan, combined with more contemporary modern touches. This also has a restaurant, but the most important service that offers is the big spa that allows users to relax. A place divided into two wellness oases and spreads over two floors covering more than 3,500 square metres. This has not only a sauna, steam showers, vitality pool, ice fountain and 12 treatment rooms but also two VIP double suites and four couples’ suites.

VB_HotelTaipeh

Certainly a unique space in which Villeroy & Boch participates with the high-quality sanitary facilities for the spa, using the Architecture collection. This is characterised by a deliberately minimalist design, allowing a wide range of applications and leaving room for individual style. The toilets repels dirt thanks to CeramicPlus, which ensures a perfect hygiene. Moreover, these have a silent closure of the toilet seat and a high cleaning efficiency with a water use of 3 or 4,5 litres.

ARCHITECTURE - PROJECT

Thyssenkrupp has begun the installation of the peculiar front of glass PTFE, politetrafluoroetileno, in his tower of tests that one finds in Rottweil, Germany, destined to test the innovations worldwide of his elevators. It is foreseen that the project is the highest of the world of this class.

For the installation of this membrane, it is needed of specialized technical personnel to realize the assembly to a height 246 meters. An installation of height that he carries that the whole equipment faces singular challenges. By means of two mobile platforms, the specialists measure the exterior and join the space-bars and pipes to mount the membrane. Of separated form, the front will be assembled in three parts and will establish itself of it arrives down. Due to the gradual gradation of the membrane, the tower will seem to be almost opaque in the part of below and will be estimated of almost transparent form in the part of above, where the fabric of mesh is thicker.

test_tower_rottweil_2__c__thyssenkrupp
17000 METERS

The membrane, of 17.000 square meters, is done of glass PTFE (politetrafluoroetileno), a complex woven of fiber of glass covered with polymer that grants long duration, allows the auto-cleaned one and contributes to the tower his distinctive aspect. In addition, also it protects her from the intense solar radiation and reduces the movement of the building, attacking the force of the wind. The fabric takes place in strips of three meters that later will knit to bigger sections of membrane, being the first time that applies this material to itself hereby.

For the equipment of planning one has possessed 29 members of Taiyo Europa, person in charge of the manufacture and assembly of the membrane. According to Hubert Reiter, the executive director of Taiyo Europe: » The phase of planning, as well as the set they mean new challenges for us, since the requirements and specifications are totally only. We from Taiyo Europa are very proud to take part in a project as special as this one «.

TEST IN DECEMBER 2016

There is programmed that the operations of test in the tower begin in December, 2016 and that in May, 2017, opens the tower the visitors. » For thyssenkrupp Elevator, the tower of tests in Rottweil will play a key paper in the implementation of our global strategy of innovation, which is crucial for the success of the company «, Andreas Schierenbeck says, CEO of thyssenkrupp Elevator. » Together with our plant of elevators in Neuhaussen, and as part of the world network of research and development, the tower supposes an important center of innovation for the technology of elevators in Germany. Here, they will be explored, will develop and prove innovative solutions for the mobility of the future, in order which the cities are the best place to live «, Schierenbeck comments.

CONSTRUCTION

Thyssenkrupp began the construction of the tower of Rottweil’s tests in 2014 together with the general Züblin contractor. Between the technologies that will be tested there is the elevator MULTI, with three of twelve axes of the tower saved for this new system. Thanks to the technology of magnetic levitation of the Transrapid, MULTI offers a series of advantages: the free design of cables allows to several cabins to operate in an alone axis, increasing the passengers’ capacity up to in 50 per cent and, at the same time, reducing the fingerprint of the elevator in the building to the half. In addition, the elevators will be able to move without constraint, so much horizontally as vertically, making new applications and architectural possibilities possible without precedents.

ARCHITECTURE - AWARDS

Architects Norman Foster and Carlos Rubio are going to develop the refurbishment of the Hall of Realms (Salón de Reinos) of the Museo del Prado in Madrid. In order to achieve this, both firms,  Foster + Partners and Rubio Arquitectura have worked together in a proposal that has been shown under the name of ‘Traza Oculta’.

A process that started with a first phase where 47 teams showed their proposal and continued with the selection of 8 finalists.

Corporate complexity

Samo Group has been chosen by SDA Bocconi School of Management and SAP Italia to take part in a research project aimed at defining the value of information systems as they relate to corporate complexity. The Samo corporate case study is featured in the publication of “Complessità aziendale e valore dei sistemi informativi” [Corporate complexity and the value of information systems], which contains the findings of the research and was presented on Wednesday 29 January at the Bocconi School of Management (Milan), where the Group was on hand to offer its own reflections.

The main aim of the research, conducted throughout 2013 by the authoritative School of Management in collaboration with SAP Italia, was to analyse innovative approaches able to steer decisions regarding investments in information systems, as compared to the traditional return-on-investment approach so common among managers and entrepreneurs. It was with this in mind that Samo had been contacted on 23 May by SDA Bocconi to offer their particular experience.

Study Amatam

This new place, existing but now refurbished, is an opportunity to create a retreat for young people, where they could set free all their creativity. In order to achieve this, it will be essential to use color to stimulate the spatial and visual perception, so the color psychology has become one of the fundamental assumptions.

Both the previous selections and the final winners are assessed by a panel of over 100 judges, composed of recognised European politicians and business leaders, academics and entrepreneurs. They assess the different candidates according to different business indicators, which include innovation, ethics and international approach.

An amazing project

Walls sinuously move and bend through this loft apartment interior housed in a former butter factory, in West Melbourne.

A sculptural stair sits at the converging point in the space, twisting, and soaring up towards a recreational roof terrace which overlooks the city of Melbourne.

A monochrome palate of white on white with charcoal and black, plays with the abundant natural light which is drawn in from the large north facing windows and ceiling void.

An essentially open ground floor plan is defined by bending, wrapping walls which contain a bathroom, laundry and storage spaces. Sliding doors further create the opportunity for expanding or containing, depending on how the ground floor is used, whether it be as a studio, bedroom or for entertaining.
